Save the leopard
The Apex of Grace
Leopards are among the most powerful, intelligent and stunning creatures on Earth. They embody natural beauty.
To watch a Leopard move through the forest is an unforgettable gift.
Nothing I have seen in nature moves with such grace.
The Leopard is absolute beauty.
"The Leopard is absolute Beauty."
A leopard is master of hiding and hunting. We only find those that wish to be found.
Adorned with grace,
poise, balance and power, the moment you see one all time
A great being like a Leopard demands respect and admiration.
"The Moment You See ONE All Time becomes Still"
Before your gaze finds a Leopard you will first be studied and watched.
They reveal themselves only if they have determined no threat.
To find so much as their shadow passing by is an honour,
for if they show even this then they chose not to harm you.
As I knelt to take this photograph I was in awe of the beauty before me.
The Leopard is a perfect living artwork in so many ways;
I see divinity in their form, spirit and movement.
As he stood near to a tree carefully studying a human,
I wondered within at how powerful this Leopard was.
Immediately after this he turned and jumped,
launching himself 30 foot up the tree vertically.
Such raw, effortless, incredible motion.
I have never seen anything move with such elegance and power.
He turned to look back from the height of the tree.
It felt like he was actually reading my thoughts;
Seeing, feeling and connecting spiritually.
I am sure he could feel my complete admiration.
The Leopard is one of nature's great forms.
It is a blessing to simply be near to such majesty.
When I look at these beings I see creation's perfection. Behind their eyes is a raw living spirit.
The Leopard is truly a miracle.
When humanity learns to respect mother nature,
All life here will thrive and human beings will evolve.
In the past few decades, habitat destruction and poaching has caused Leopard populations to dramatically decrease - by over 80%.
Because of human activity many animals are endangered.
Over half of animal species are now in decline.
Many species on Earth are
now facing extinction.
The Amur Leopard is one of the most endangered species on Earth.
It is believed that there are just 70 of
these beautiful beings left living wild.
Only 70 wild Amur Leopards.
How can this happen unnoticed?
Unsustainable Industry Destroys the Planet
Forestry, agriculture, Chemical Production and Mining are the most destructive industries of all to the Leopard's natural habitat.
Because of these industries there are now so few safe spaces for animals left that we are completely losing hundreds of species
Time is running out to save these beautiful animals.
It is now or never.
We must put an end to harmful and unsustainable industry.
Ecocide is the destruction or harm of ecological systems. It happens from the direct killing of a species or the destruction/degradation of their liveable habitat, food supply or water sources.
By this definition ecocide is happening right now all over the world, usually for profit. That means someone, or many people, paying for this to happen.
Fortunately, there are people trying to stop it.
The importance of Raising Awareness
Raising awareness and acting upon it is the first step in a great transformation.
When was the last time you bought a fire in the amazon rainforest, or ordered the destruction of endangered species' habitat? Have you ever funded the destruction of a rainforest, perhaps the home of an Orangutang or Tiger, Jaguar, Elephant?
Believe it or not, that's what the modern market system is making many people do; by obscuring the way products are produced behind brand names, labels, advertisements and marketing.
By hiding the way that they manufacture their products, many companies are keeping us purposefully unaware of their impact upon nature. Dedicated human beings are uncovering this however, and then informing other people.
By sharing information and raising awareness we enable ourselves and each other to come up with real solutions. This is important work, because only through increasing awareness can we truly improve the way that we are living.
In learning about the source of ingredients or items we can make a real change in our choices and actions. The most obvious of which is in the products we buy.
For example: if we love the Orangutang and recognise the value of their being we will want the best for this species and not take part in anything that harms them.
Many already know that Oranguntan live in the rainforests of southeast Asia, but most are unaware that an area of rainforest larger than the united kingdom has already been destroyed in the past few years just to plant palm oil
crops for use in products many buy.
The problem we find when reviewing the ingredients of the things that we buy is that so many companies use this very same palm oil. Once aware of this issue we are able to make better choices, and this is where real action begins.
The impact that palm oil production is having upon the forests that Orangutang live in should become common knowledge and widely addressed. This can only be done effectively through conscious writing and artwork, high profile advocates or individual people sharing articles like this one, (because the Rainforest and animals don't have the resources of the corporates).
We must be share planet's voice.
It's not just the Orangutan which suffers from this senseless destruction.
We're losing so many species to immoral corporate greed.
Many companies profit from the destruction of rainforest, oceans and other animal habitat. There are different ways and reasons, but all of it can stop if we just protect these habitats.
No form of business should be operating within a hundred miles of biodiverse spaces,
as they are the last remaining stronghold of nature's ecological system.
Without natural systems, all life on earth will perish.
No matter how much money they make.
The image above shows how large sections of rainforest have been cleared to plant palm oil with harmful mono-cropped plantations.
Thanks to massive efforts from environmental activists and conservational reform the Malaysian government announced in 2019 four key policies to regulate palm oil:
1. Capping palm oil planting at 6.5 million hectares,
2. Stopping planting on peatland areas and regulating existing palm oil cultivation.
3. Banning the conversion of forest reserve areas for oil palm cultivation.
4. Pledging to make oil palm plantation maps available for public access.
These are steps in the right direction and proof that activism does work but the planting of palm oil is still a very major issue. There are many alternatives, such as investing in irrigation of arid land, which not only stop destruction but create whole new opportunities for animal habitat & agriculture.
We really need to use more sustainable crops with more sustainable farming methods (like permaculture and regenerative farming). We also need to ensure every company involved in destruction of the rainforest becomes sanctioned internationally, so that no one can profit from the destruction of these priceless planetary treasures. In August of 2020 pressure on U.K government lead to just that, as legislation upon larger companies were proposed that require them to demonstrate their supply chains are free from illegal deforestation, or face sanctions.
The question is, how significant are the sanctions. Some of these companies make billions of dollars, and are able to walk through even hundred million dollar fines.
I would personally argue that all companies and individuals involved in the past destruction of natural habitat should now be made to pay for its replanting, cultivation and recovery. If those businesses stop destructive activity they can be allowed to continue trading. If they simply fail we have done Earth a great service. There is no sensible reason to let this kind of madness continue.
We can't continue to support an economy of destruction.
By closing down harmful business we help sustainable ones grow.
As a people and nation this is a choice we can make.
Stop Funding Ecocide
Where does the funding for ecological destruction come from? Billions come from Government subsidies, grants and private finance from the banks. Where do they get the money they hand out? Us, the people.
Here is a list of the banks that support fossil fuels and ecological destruction the most.
If millions of people just choose to take their money out of the banks funding ecocide it will effectively stop.
This is because the people who destroy ecosystems do it for money, not fun. If they aren't paid it will suddenly stop, just like many other industries and forms of work that have stopped this past year.
So how can we do this? By taking our money out of the banks and encouraging others to do the same. The banks will notice this trend and rapidly change their ways to keep customers. If they do not change their ways and customers keep leaving then they will simply be unable to make such huge loans as they lose the capital base to do so that your deposits provide.
Banks like Chase, Wells Fargo, Citi, Bank of America, Barclays, Scotiabank, Credit Suisse and HSBC are responsible for over 70% of all fossil fuel investment. If these banks stop funding ecocide, it will collapse as an activity almost entirely worldwide. This means we can actually save the
planet just by switching banks. Please, spread the word.
Switch to A Sustainable World
Here is the bank I suggest switching to if you live or do business in Europe. Triodos was founded in 1980 with a mission to 'help create a society that protects and promotes quality of life and human dignity for all' by means of ethical banking. They are leading the charge in positive investment by a long way.
Sustainable & Responsible
Switching from the destructive economy to the creative and sustainable economy is the fastest way to transform the world for the better. Supporting those who are working for good is one of the single greatest ways to make a difference to the world. We know the old ways are not working.
It is time now we come together to create something better.
It takes a lot of work to understand the details of some issues, to break them down into solutions and identify the people or projects most effectively working for positive change.
We need to share this work with each other, or it won't go very far.
While it is important to take responsibility for each of our own choices, like choosing responsible banking or sustainable alternatives to palm oil based products,
some of our choices will have a bigger impact.
AMAZING THINGS DONE VS BAD
A number of people have been empowered with the ability to make choices on behalf of others. This is the case for all elected forms of government, board executives of public companies, and local leaders of community organisations. Theoretically these people should enact the will of those who elect them, but as we all know, they usually don't.
To quote U.S senator Sheldon Whitehouse: “corporations of vast wealth and remorseless staying power have moved into our politics to seize for themselves advantages that can be seized only by control over government.”
Politicians consistently deceive the public in order to get elected, and then repeatedly make decisions that benefit those who have the power to influence them. This turns
the government into little more than a puppet show, a charade.
It's up to the people to change this.
“When the government fears the people, there is liberty.
When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.”
- Thomas Jefferson, founding father of the United States.
Corporations and governments often hide what they do behind opaque legal jargon, false advertisement and a series of shell companies. This is a problem we have seen far too many times. Despite many figureheads placed in front of us as "real change", we all know inside that they represent the same system; One of centralised power were people are governed by default from birth -which is without consent.
Perhaps you believe these people will make good decisions on your behalf, but I don't.
All of my adult life I have seen them making bad choices, even some that are pure evil.
I believe that our children could make much better decisions.
Truly. Children would be much better.
That is why I stand with them.
There can be no purer movement than millions of children standing up for the Earth.
There can be no greater purpose than to save a planet, its life & nature.
There is no better time than right now, in the present, to act.
What better future can we seek than a free world.
We are being called to come together and act as one unified people.
By giving all our effort we can change this whole world.
If we do this now, it will change humanity forever.
It is time we wake up.
Use your power.
During many actions and protests I have joined with these incredibly inspiring young people I have also seen thousands of compassionate older people supporting them in spirit.
When marching through the streets there were many smiles and tooting cars passing us.
If these people act with us it would make a big difference.
Some people may question the goal or effectiveness of peaceful protesting and creative action, but it has worked before and the alternative is less fun. If enough people come together, massive protests will definitely work. This is why we are working to try
and awaken more of the world, while there is still time.
I saw other powerful emotional responses out there (besides my own) and know many lives were changed by seeing these young people stand up. I should have been doing more for the planet when I was younger, but there is still time to make up for that.
This moment above was both inspiring and very hard for me. Thousands of police had begun encircling the protestors, intending to trap, dishearten and intimidate them. An action known as "kettling". As the police quickly surrounded from all sides, these brave young people had to decide what they would do fast.
Our children should not have to counteract aggression from grown adults.
They acted brilliantly and guided their peers through the closing gaps against walls of grown adults with full riot gear, horses and helicopters. They should never have had to do this.
We, the adults, should be standing for our children.
Never against them.
The young people of today are amazing. Despite such a difficult and traumatic world, they stand up for the planet and place themselves against a destructive system. A system they had no part in creating,
that their parents should really be changing.
The least we can do is stand with them.
It is our duty to stand with our children.
On one protest I saw an older woman crying at the children marching past her. I believe it happened as she read their signs and began to remember what truly matters and perhaps also mattered once to her.
She looked worldly and affluent then but I saw her soul awaken in that moment.
Her eyes were unforgettable. I wonder what she's doing now.
There were many watching the protests that clearly wanted to support and join in, but didn't. Maybe years wearing a suit and believing in their worldly "role" or "status" had somehow constricted their sense of self and freewill. Perhaps they were too scared to join in with on the street, in case they were assaulted by police and arrested. Whatever stopped them, I saw clearly that they wanted to join us inside.
If you feel a connection with this movement, then please stand up and join in.
The children are out here on the streets, literally fighting for the planet. How can we not stand with them? They need our help, our skills, our experience and resources.
There are no teenagers in the boardrooms; Just those who forgot they were once.
They need our efforts and voices, our understanding and influence.
Most of all they need us to act with them.
In 2019 there were huge demonstrations across the world to protect planet Earth, the largest of which was an international action across over 60 cities simultaneously.
We have never seen such an international movement in human history.
Over 30,000 people gathered in London to stand with our children and demand protection for the planet. Despite thousands of arrests, harsh weather and aggressive use of police force we worked together and endured with love and resilience.
The demands were simple:
That Government and media tell the truth about the planet's ecological crisis.
That they immediately declare an ecological emergency.
That they act now to stop the destruction of animal species.
That they reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero within 5 years.
That they enact the will of the people through a citizens assembly,
since existing government is not serving the people.
The impact was global, with over a thousand declarations of climate emergency in more than 33 countries. In the same year, the people of Ethiopia planted 350 million trees across 1000 sites in a single day, almost 400,000 acres of endangered animal habitat in Myanmar was declared a protected area, a major project to re-wild the Danube Delta began, Ireland pledged to plant 440 million trees, wild Tiger numbers rose by 30% and wild bison were reintroduced to Bulgaria (resulting in the first wild born calf in 800 years).
Continued pressure on government and mass activism creates real change.
Even though most mass gatherings have been halted over the past year there were still plenty of amazing people out there doing good work for the planet.
For example, collective of Farmers launched an ambitious project to re-wild a huge section of England.
This brought more good news, with 71 countries agreeing to a historic plan for protecting 30% of Earth's animal habitat. Just last month, António Guterres (UN chief) urged all countries to declare a climate emergency and the British Government announced that the UK taxpayer is to stop funding fossil fuel projects overseas.
All very good steps.
There is ample proof that this kind of activism works and these are all signs of real progress, but politicians are professional promise breakers and signs are not enough.
The planet is still burning, and the animals are still suffering.
Let us all keep fighting until things transform from the pressure.
We are the only ones who can ensure there is action.
The corporate controlled world political and economic system is designed to concentrate more and more resources and power into the hands of a few organisations and people. This has been especially true over the last year because of the sweeping actions of government worldwide. To illustrate this point, consider the fact that just 10 people increased their personal wealth by over $300 Billion dollars in 2020. That is more than the entire federal budget of Russia, Costa Rica, Nigeria and Nepal combined. We are talking about the resources of 274 MILLION PEOPLE being less than just 10.
How is this system going unchallenged?
It is time we changed this.
While the controls introduced over the past 12 months have had a crippling impact on many small businesses, many massive companies like Amazon and Walmart have benefitted from them profoundly (together they made over 50% more profit during 2020). As small businesses have been forced to shut down even more money has been directed toward centralised corporate entities.
The rapid implementation of technology by many nations has also further centralised power and influence by a few organisations over billions of people worldwide. Nations which previously had relatively little technological dependency are now poised to become vastly more centralised and unequal; unless something profound happens to change it - like a great awakening.
The control of resources that individuals, private organisations and corporate entities have in the world has been growing more and more extreme over the years. This is due to the fact that the political and financial systems gives them control over the world systems and vice versa. For example: just 10 companies own almost all major food brands.
You may have noticed something has been happening with mass media recently, but are you aware of how concentrated and controlled it really is? Did you know for example that just 6 companies own almost all the media sources in the United States. This means it is shockingly easy to push a consistent narrative among all the media channels that influence over 90% of American's.
It is hard to convey the importance of understanding this point.
These are global systems able to control perceived reality.
They are being used to influence people worldwide.
This needs to be stopped immediately.
You will have noticed a narrative on most of these media outlets that likens the examination and critical analysis of world power structures with madness or hysteria. The fact that those who control these major media outlets benefit from a people who do not question the validity of such power structures is no coincidence. They would like nothing better than to distract human beings from developing their understanding of the perverse distribution of wealth in this world.
For example, they would rather you did not know that just a few thousand people have personal financial resources than 4.6 Billion other human beings combined.
Are you OK with that?
Due to the controls introduced over the past 12 months on many small businesses and the rapid implementation of technology by many nations which previously had relatively little technological dependency, resources have now become even more centralised and unequal. To illustrate this, just 10 people increased their personal wealth by over $300 Billion dollars in 2020.
That is more than the entire federal budget of Russia, Costa Rica, Nigeria and Nepal combined.
The business's they own and support drive ecological breakdown,
while the systems they manipulate allow them to profit from the Earth's destruction.
the companies harming the planet today are making Trillions in profit.
Some human beings think this is OK or that the market will work it out.
Some people think a planet like Earth can be owned.
I don't. Neither do millions of other people..
When enough of us wake up, everything will change.
Decentralise the Economy
Unsustainable industry is by definition, unsustainable.
It takes our environment, health and future while making destructive people and industry more wealthy & powerful.
Alongside all this, it is rapidly destroying the animal's habitat.
The reason we are losing so many species today is simply because unsustainable industry is taking their home.
Decentralise the Economy
There are thousands of people working in destructive and harmful industries.
Many of these people would rather do something less negative, but the pay of destructive industries like gas, oil and mining is higher than that of their alternative work.
Destructive industry gets funding from government grants and private banks.
Without all that funding, they cannot operate at scale (Most could not operate at all).
The most effective way of stopping large scale damage to ecology is to close all avenues of funding for the industries that cause it. To stop all funding from private banks by levying huge fines on those who continue. To stop all use of products produced through harmful business activity ban all unsustainable agriculture and wood.
Collectively, as a people, we can make these changes happen.
By declaring ecocide a crime we can shut down destructive industry.
By creating national parks we can protect animal habitats.
By sharing this information and our resources we can lead others to action.
Protecting endangered animals from poachers requires commitment and resources.
Since governments don't provide those resources it is up to the people
themselves to support this work.
Our challenge and mission is to see all animal habitat protected.
Decentralise the Economy
They should not make huge financial gains from destroying the natural world, but they do. Some people use corporations to hide how they make money,
because their income comes from activities
that most people would be against.
We have to make ecocide a criminal act and hold those people and organisations that commit it fully accountable. We have to take legal action against corporate leaders.
It is the only way to stop them from hiding behind the shell of a corporate entity.
By declaring ecocide a crime we can shut down destructive industries and create huge opportunities in the market for sustainable, independent,
small to medium sized businesses.
Recent events have been used to centralise resources and power even more but with our effort to close down destructive business we can create massive opportunity for decentralised, sustainable, responsible and independent smaller grass routes businesses to start up all across the world. By closing down destructive business we can save natural ecology, create massive opportunity to replace them sustainably while decentralising the economy and bringing power back to people.
The Earth is a Gift
Food, water, shelter and beauty;
All human beings depend on nature for life.
A Living Planet
With the love of a mother Nature gives all we need.
If we just treat her respectfully we could live in abundance.
Centralised and destructive economies are what make the world poor. It is widely believed that large agricultural corporations are what feed us, but this is not true.
"The entire idea of industrialised countries feeding the world is a myth – it is predominately small farmers around the world who are feeding themselves and their communities" - Kendra Klein, Friends of the Earth’s senior staff scientist
Yet so many today are unable to see this.
The main reason for this misconception is that mass media serves money, so they never show the people how
planetary resources are taken and sold back to us.
Under existing ideas of ownership and wealth,
the "richest" 1% own more than half of the world's resources.
It is these same human beings who are destroying this planet.
So why do we let them?
Greed and blindness are causing ecological breakdown;
Indifference to this injustice is what continually allows it.
There's no Planet B.
Our Home Needs Protection
Why should we allow corrupt corporations to steal?
They buy, sell and destroy the Earth,
they endanger human life and all our children's health and future,
and the governments lets them.
We can change this.
We can stand up.
Fight for Earth,
and save life.
Protecting Keystone Species
Certain species in an ecosystem are disproportionally more impactful than others. This is because they perform functions in the ecosystem that have a huge wider impact.
Such species are known as "keystone" species.
The loss of keystone species can cause sudden collapse of entire ecosystems. Particularly when these species keep human beings off the land.
When ecosystems become unbalanced they can soon become dramatically unstable. There is nothing more destabilising than the destruction of habitat.
We cannot afford to allow more destruction of ancient forests.
If we don't stop allowing this in their habitats soon, there will be no place for the Leopard's populations to recover.
It is time to really protect Planet Earth.
"They are heavily hunted in southern Asia for their skin and bones supplying the Chinese medicinal trade.
In western and central Africa, they are hunted for their skins, teeth and claws." - Big Cat Conservation
Protect Leopard Habitat
The great Apex predators are very often keystone species.
They manage animal populations by keeping other predators and humans off the land. They also draw support from those who care for these animals, and become the main species around which natural parks are then founded.
By protecting these species we protect thousands of others.
It is easy to think that predators reduce animal populations, but they actually support the health of entire ecology. This is because they hunt and chase away grazers which keeps them from grazing too much on the land. This gives plants, shrubs and young trees time to mature and grow beyond grazing height, providing the essential natural habitat needed for many other life forms.
The population of such species can indicate the health of the wider ecology,
since it is must all ultimately be working together in order to support them.
When in need of food,
Leopards prefer hunting from trees.
Waiting above patiently
they pick their moment and move silently. Leopards are careful,
observant and patient.
I have seen a Leopard
study Lions hunting for hours, just observing and waiting for
them to scatter a herd.
To know when to act takes
both wisdom and patience.
Once the Lions had tired and separated the herd the Leopard moved in on a much easier meal.
There is great power to find in both wisdom and patience.
The life of a Leopard
continually proves this.
Protecting ecology naturally protects true economy,
Because no form of economy can survive without nature.
The current destructive, unsustainable economy is what we must transform.
Protecting the Earth, other people and nature,
this is humanities' greatest work.
Good life on this Earth takes much
love, strength and courage.
All who love in this world face injustice and bullies. We need courage to guide us through hardship, difficulty and trials.
A Leopard once showed me what real courage is about, by defending itself against
a whole pride of Lions.
With the major size difference and the fact it was outnumbered, I was amazed to watch it fight them off and survive.
Very few animals have the courage, power and skill to successfully fend off
much larger attackers -
especially a pride of powerful Lions.
The Leopard embodies the spirit of courage.
It can be hard to see why such fierce beings need our help,
but to protect them from harm caring humans need to act.
How long have we trusted other people to lead us?
When will we realise that the leader lives in us.
Follow the spirit, the love of your soul.
Serve the great truth, that only love knows.
All life is one.
The Planet is Shared
We share this great Earth.
Amber skies and the meadows.
All the leaves on great trees,
The old junipers, young willows.
Swimming through the vast oceans,
Meeting tortoise and dolphins,
From the Leopards and Lions,
To the buffalo beside them.
From great mountains and jungles,
To the birds and the bees,
No one owns this great planet.
We share all of these.
Protect the Earth.
The power to change always comes from within.
Greed and blindness are causing ecological breakdown;
Indifference to this injustice is what continually allows it.
We Are Nature
We each are a part of the natural world, and the natural world is a part of us all.
The average human body is made from over 30 Trillion cells.
Each living cell contains some 100 Trillion atoms, making every cell a
living miracle in itself.
These all come together in balance with a living environment to perform the
miracle of nature
that is life.
Not only do Human beings need nature,
We are nature.
We Should Care About Nature
Right now all of nature is in need of protection,
From people who can't see what loving souls know.
We all have a duty to protect mother nature.
We need to stand up and defend our shared Home.
People are Awakening
People are Awakening
All human beings have a duty to nature.
We hold in our hands all our children's future.
If we don't stand up soon they will lose nature forever.
Caring human beings are those who care for and protect each other, the animals, the planet and Nature. Humanity as a whole desperately needs more of these beings to awaken.
We need a collective awakening now.
the Greedy Destroy
All of humanity is responsible for our shared collective future.
We all should stand up for the life of this Earth.
The guardian of nature is living inside us.
Earth's army is you, it is I and it's us.
We are one.
the Young and the Free
As One Tribe of Love
The Warriors of Peace
All Stand Together
You Warriors of Peace
There's no Planet B.
There's No Planet B
We can create.
We are one with nature.
All are a part of nature's balance.
Protecting ecology is so very important.
Caring for nature, protecting the Earth,
this is our greatest work.
We should do it.
